This is our entry in the Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: It IS Easy Being Green. This photo of a bronze elephant sculpture was taken in front of the entrance to Wat Chedi Luang, a temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand. There are two verdigris elephants, one on each side of the walk leading to the entrance.
The ends of the tusks are rubbed back to the original copper color by thousands of visitors wishing for luck. Tourists pose in front of colorful dragons flanking the steps into the temple, leaving these elegant animals to be “bookends” for the racks of shoes left by those who enter the temple.
