Concorde F-BVFA – Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Anything that Flies

We recently visited the National Air and Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, near Washington Dulles International Airport.  Arguably the most beautiful aircraft here is the Air France Concorde F-BVFA.  The Concorde fleet was flown by Air France and British Airways between 1976 and 2003. The great speed of the aircraft – Paris to Dulles in just under four supersonic hours – eventually could not compensate for the high costs of operation, shrinking market, and catastrophic accident in 2000.  Air France agreed in 1989 to donate a retired Concorde to the National Air and Space Museum and that aircraft was delivered in 2003.
