This is our entry in Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Large Subjects.
These elephants are residents at the Elephant Transit Home in the Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka. The Transit Home was created in 1995 to take care of orphaned baby elephants. They are cared for here, with minimal human contact, until they can be released back into the wild at five years of age. The three elephants in the photo have just finished one of the scheduled milk feedings that can be viewed by humans from a viewing stand. These three appear to have bonded into their own small family group.
This photo was taken on February 12, 2018. Specs are:
Olympus TG-4, ISO 100, f/4.9, 1/500 sec, 30.6 mm.
