This is our entry in nancy merrill photography’s A Photo a Week Challenge: Timing is Everything.
We see skateboarders everywhere we go in the world. In fact, skateboarding as a sport is expected to debut as an Olympic sport at the Tokyo 2020 Games. The best tricksters will get to the Olympics only through a lot of practice. We visited a nearby skateboard park to try to capture the jumps, flips, and spins happening on the freestyle and competition courses. Matching our stop-action timing to their stunt timing was a challenge. We suspect that the young man in the photo has mistimed something (because he is bailing), but he didn’t stop practicing.
