Dormant in the moonlight

This is our entry in The Daily Post Daily Prompt: Dormant.

The book lies dormant in the moonlight, awaiting its reader.

This book is The White Rabbit by Bruce Marshall, a non-fiction account of  the World War II activities of F. F. E. Yeo-Thomas, a British Special Operations Executive (SOE) in occupied and Vichy France.  Published in 1952, its well-worn paper jacket testifies that, at one time, it was well-read, but it sat dormant in someone’s bookshelf (or cardboard box) until it was donated to a local library, where I bought it in late spring for 50 cents. The book is open to the last page I read before taking the photo; I soon finished the book and it is now dormant again on my bookshelf. Even though this book is 65 years old now, it should not be retired just yet.
