For everyone who did not get to enjoy a 4th of July fireworks display, here for your viewing pleasure is a selection from the fireworks display at Fairfax High School in Fairfax, Virginia. The images are set to the finale of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
The photos were taken with a Canon SL1 and Olympus TG-5 on July 4, 2018.
We were waiting for fireworks on the 4th of July and decided to make a time-lapse video of the crowd building in the hour before the show. We turned the camera to face behind us and used an intervalometer to capture an image every 5 seconds. This is the result.
This is part of the City of Fairfax fireworks display at Fairfax High School in Fairfax, Virginia. An unwelcome rain shower began with the flag ceremony, sending many people home. The rest of us sheltered as best we could for another hour, and the rain ceased long enough for a spectacular fireworks display.
In late May of this year, these fireworks marked the beginning of Memorial Day Weekend. As we were growing up, the 4th of July fireworks celebrating our country’s Declaration of Independence was a reminder each year of our nation’s great history. We look forward to celebrating our history again today.
