Yellow Bee on Yellow Flower

This is our entry in nancy merrill photography’s A Photo a Week Challenge: Yellow.

When we visited Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria, Virginia, yesterday, we worked hard to capture images of bees, butterflies, and other flying insects as they flitted among the many beautiful flowers.  Here is one yellow bee that stayed put on one yellow flower long enough for a quick photo.

Lotus at Green Spring Gardens

This is our entry in Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Take New Photos – Any topic.

We visited Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria, Virginia, today to see how the flowers were faring after our hot spell of weather.  We found that the lotus plants in the large pond were thriving, although many had progressed to the seed pod stage.  The lotus flower in the photo is beginning to deteriorate, but the petals are still beautiful.

A Tiny Flower Planet

We had a light snow last evening and it was dreary and cold today. For a break, we went to the greenhouse at Green Spring Gardens for a little cheer. We had just watched Gavin Hoey on YouTube,  showing an example of creating a tiny planet using flowers. We had to try it, too. Here is our result.  It made us feel better. We hope you like it, too!
