Chiang Mai, Thailand, has many temples but only one silver temple – Wat Sri Suphan – located just outside the Old Town in the traditional silver-making area of the city. Here, silversmiths are trained in traditional techniques. Their work is used in an ongoing renovation of the temple. Pictured is a monk hammering a pattern into a silver panel.
The most beautiful building is the ubosot (main coronation hall). The sign in front of the ubosot entry states that woman are not allowed to enter.
Around the base of the ubosot are beautifully intricate, yet unexpected, decorations, in addition to the names of cities from around the world.
