As fleeting as a cloud

This is our entry in The Daily Post Photo Challenge: Evanescent.

These clouds were momentarily above the entrance to Beaufort Inlet at the eastern point of Bogue Banks, near Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. The photo was taken from atop the covertway (outer wall) of Fort Macon, now a state park, which was built between 1826 and 1834 to protect Beaufort Inlet and Beaufort Harbor.  The clouds seemed to be announcing a storm that arrived the next day.
