This is our entry in Lost in Translation’s THURSDAY’S SPECIAL: PICK A WORD IN MAY – Y2.
This statue of Winged Victory of Samothrace standing on the prow of a battleship is located in the Musée du Louvre in Paris, France. Victory is the Greek goddess who flew over the earth to spread news of momentous events such as victories in battle or athletic competitions. Every time we visit the Louvre, this view of Winged Victory confirms to us that we are really in the Louvre again. We are then free to explore the rest of the Museum.
